What is iGlance?
iGlance is a tiny program for talking and sharing over the internet. It's easy and free to install and use. Download iGlance now, or read on to learn more.

How is iGlance different?
Lots of programs make phone calls over the internet, but only iGlance has push-to-talk, video presence, integrated screen and window sharing, and is open source.

What is "push to talk"?
When sitting next to someone in the same room, you don't call the guy on the phone, you just start talking. iGlance is the same way. Just click on a user's picture, wherever it appears, and start talking. So long as you hold the button down, your voice will be heard on the other side. (Or double-click to talk "hand's free".)

Can I still make phone calls?
Yes. Push-to-talk is often much easier and more natural. But sometimes, the formality of a phone call (it rings on the other side, he picks up, you both talk until someone hangs up, etc.) makes more sense. With iGlance it's not either push-to-talk or telephone, it's both, whenever you prefer.

What is "video presence"?
The iGlance buddy list shows a tiny video window of each of your buddies. So with a glance at the list, you can see who's here and what they're doing. As such, there's no need to set silly "away" messages -- just get up and go, and it's clear to everyone.

What if I don't want to be seen?
Then don't be. With iGlance, you are in control of how much -- or how little -- others can see you. By default, people can only see you if you can see them back. This natural balance of privacy is just how the real world works, whether sharing a room with someone or walking down the street. But you are always in control so if this balance dosn't work for you, strike a new one. Configure iGlance to be totally open (let everyone see me, always), totally closed (let no one see me, ever), or some specific balance in between (let others see me if I can see them, but only when I am talking). Privacy is serious business, and iGlance gives you a number of tools -- with more on the way -- to find a balance that is comfortable for you.

What is "screen and window sharing"?
One of iGlance's coolest and most unique features gives you the ability to show your screen -- all at once or a window at a time -- to a buddy over the internet. Just pick a window and like magic, it appears on your buddy's screen just as if it were his own. Point in the window, and your buddy sees your cursor. When your buddy points in your window on his side, you see your buddy's cursor on your side. Any changes you make are seen by your buddy, as you make them. It's just like saying "Hey, come take a look at this" in reality, but without worrying about your buddy geting fingerprints all over your screen.

Will he be able to control my window?
Only if you want him to. If you do, he can use your window on his computer, just as if it were his own, without emailing files back and forth or even having your application installed. But if you don't allow him to take control, he can't, and all he can do is point. And of course, whenever you stop sharing, the sharing stops.
